Alion Science and Technology is looking for a software developer with strong database skills to support the Office of Labor and Economic Analysis at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs, Co. This position will support the acquisition of data pertinent to OLEA programs and support the extraction, transformation, and loading of information from administrative and operational datasets into the OLEA databases for data analytics. This position will be responsible to convert administrative data into analytical data.
Responsibilities
- Handling routine and ad-hoc data processing tasks to ingest data into the OLEA database.
- Install, maintain all software and operating systems licensing and updates.
- Maintaining multiple system environments including Windows OS and LAMP (Linux, Apache, Database, PhP) environment.
- Establishes and maintain software repository for OLEA data management code and other research code.
- Maintain and document all code using the OLEA software repository.
- Update database design and construction to meet specifications required for research.
- Develop necessary coding to support translation and manipulation of source data for inclusion into data warehouse.
- Work with Systems Administrator to maintain necessary hardware and software requirements for OLEA environment.
- Maintain data dictionary information to include data keyword lists and dictionary forms. Ensures all data entries into the OLEA dictionary adhere to established standards and meets requirements for data integrity.
- Provides recommendations for improvements to database design and construction.
- Assess source data for completeness and provide diagnostic reports.
- Create data tabulations and other diagnostic reports as requested to identify required updates to database design and construction.
- Establish and enforce processes to ensure consistent, properly defined, well-maintained data repository.
- Conduct routine data review to clean and reduce duplicate data.
- Perform deidentification and create data subsets based on research requirements.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience with architecting, implementing, configuring, and monitoring data programming mechanisms as appropriate to support labor economic analysis and personnel policy evaluation
- 3-5 years of experience with installation and configuration of databases to organize the source data to support create of data views for data analytics.
- IAT level II certification (as defined in AFMAN 33-285, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program) via a reputable industry resource.
- Windows OS, Linux, Apache (or IIS), and PhP (or similar) experience
- Python, SQL or other Database experience
- R (desired but not required)
- 1Stata (desired but not required)
Active NAC with Secret Clearance eligibility preferred
