The Senior Software Test Engineer will support the NGA Developer Experience (DevX) project in St Louis, MO or Springfield, VA. 

The Senior Software Test Engineer will oversee software testing operations to include management of unit test development, test plan and procedure development, test deck development, execution of tests, documentation of results and automated test development.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for conducting automated and manual tests to ensure the software created by developers fits its purpose.
  • Create test processes and procedures used to ensure that software operates within defined requirements.
  • Implement test plans, automation, and validation strategies.
  • Identify and investigate issues found during testing, and update test cases based on discovered defects.
  • Work closely with software developers and software quality analysts to resolve issues.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts to reduce repetitive manual testing.
  • Participate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents.
  • Test and prove that the software meets major architectural requirements.
  • Prove for scalability and performance of a software and ensure the quality of the system as a whole.
  • Work with firmware developers and validation engineers to develop and automate tests for software validation while detecting bug issues, preparing file defect reports, and reporting test progress.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing activities.
  • Work with management team to ensure development and operations result in quality products.
  • Perform occasional software coding.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or other related discipline with 5 to 7 years experience.  In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

Experience (required and/or preferred)

      • 5-7 years’ experience in testing and/or test management, with a focus on quality control, usability and/or performance
      • Experience working with in an environment that follows a software life cycle development process
      • Experience with Selenium or other automated test development tool that is compatible with a J2EE-web architecture
      • Understanding of software applications built on a J2EE-web architecture on a source code level
      • Understanding of software engineering practices.
      • Experience supporting DoD/IC is preferred

  • Must be able to work with little supervision and take charge of tasks
  • Must possess effective organizational skills
