Responsibilities/Qualification

 
  • .Associates Degree minimum; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • TS Clearance w/SCI eligibility required

Additional Requirements: 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of special operations doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) required for developing, coordinating, and implementing strategy, policy, future plans, and operations. 
  • Education: Senior Service College and/or Master's Degree in strategic issues preferred.
  • 10 years SOF-related strategy experience with: DoD, Joint Staff, Global Combatant Command (GCC), or Functional Combatant Command (FCC).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of special operations doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) required for developing, coordinating, and implementing strategy, policy, future plans, and operations. 
  • Read and interpret United States military technical information and documents.
  • Skillfully write United States military formatted reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals, and produce presentations in English.

Security Clearance

 
  • The Special Operations Strategist is a Subject Matter Expert with the geopolitical and cultural expertise necessary to conduct strategic/regional studies and assessments for the analysis, assessment, and synchronization of the command strategy, strategic plan, and strategic appreciation.  A Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.  Primary place of duty will be at Government offices in Tampa, FL, with travel required on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities:

  • The Special Operations Strategist will develop and coordinate future plans and strategy, and present and effectively advise USSOCOM leadership on how to leverage U.S. Government, Interagency, and private-sector capacity in support of the command mission.
  • Provide geopolitical expertise and ability to conduct strategic/regional studies and assessments for the potential application of strategy, plans, and tactics.
  • Provide expertise on innovation and technology trends, conduct engagements, and establish connections that USSOCOM can leverage to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Demonstrate the capability to execute program and project management; operational planning, and coordination processes.  
  • Work independently and coordinate with key officials in DoD, Joint Staff, Services, Combat Support Agencies and Other Government Agencies. Work in an environment to stimulate cooperation and joint planning by such agencies to get needed programs into execution and make services easier and quicker to obtain.
