Position Summary

Performs analysis, design, development, testing, debugging and implementation of highly complex distributed software systems. Work with a diverse, highly skilled, agile team to develop a data capture and analysis architecture to be used across simulation based training solutions and cyber security domains. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of systems within the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE).

Duties and Responsibilities

Work across functional teams to identify data capture and analysis requirements. 

Implement a big data architecture onto NCTE. 

Design and build analysis capabilities into the architecture 

Keep up-to-date on current technologies and applications of big data architectures

Identify opportunities to expand the use of the big data architecture within NCTE

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other engineering discipline plus at least 5 to 7 years of directly related experience. Highly prefer 9 or more years of experience. Subsequent employment, achieving employer funded Security+ and an OS certification will be required if the successful candidate does not have them already. Coursework and/or experience in Data Science is a must.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 5 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.    

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities   

3-5 years of experience in Data Science is a must

Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus

Hands-on experience with ML tools such as Python, R, and TensorFlow

Knowledge of Big Data Architectures and Patterns

On-site support required.  Interface with customers and cross-functional team members on a daily basis

Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment is required 

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Ability to communicate engineering concepts effectively.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in systems development.

Understanding of software engineering. 

Experience with software development tools and programming languages are a plus.
