Job Description



The employee will work as a member of a senior government-contractor technical team to provide onsite technical engineering expertise in integrated power systems to Naval Sea Systems Command SEA 05Z in support of the COLUMBIA Class Ballistic Missile Submarine Program.  Final Secret Clearance is required.

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Under general supervision, support design and acquisition of the propulsion plant system and its power generation, distribution and control systems.
  • Support senior technical personnel and project managers within his/her organization in various technical activities related to system and technical product development. Receive technical guidance and training from the more experienced technical staff.
  • Apply standard technical concepts, techniques, and procedures to provide assistance to higher-level engineers in the development of technical products. Employ pre-established guidelines and instructions, and limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish task objectives.
  • Perform basic engineering work in analysis, design, development, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of system and technical product development.  Duties often include the collection of information and data, performance of various tests, and the development of technical documents.
  • Engage in some independent interaction with customers and typically provide input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables under immediate supervision by more senior technical personnel.
  • Provide input and support to intra-organizational proposal development efforts and inter-organizational technical and business development activities.
  • Comply with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties.  Provide recommendations for improvements to existing quality systems and applicable company procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Security Clearance


    Education and Experience

    • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering, Science, or Technology degree.
    • 5-7 years of experience in design and testing in nuclear shipyards on in-service turbine generators and/or large electrical propulsion motors for ships is required. Additional experience may lead to a more senior posting.
    • U.S. Citizenship is required.
    • A Final SECRET clearance is required. 

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to write clear, concise, and easily readable technical correspondence as well as the ability to successfully articulate technical information in oral and written presentations is essential.  
    • Use of Microsoft Office suite programs:  Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
