Job Description



The Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE)  System Administrator is responsible for implementation, support, tuning, and performance for central server and client architecture components and operating systems  to support the development, testing, and production delivery of enterprise-wide, mission-critical applications and services for the NCTE.


The  System Administrator will work in cooperation with Engineering and Operations divisions to assess the current architecture and evolve future enterprise computing requirements. While keeping abreast of current enterprise computing disciplines, this position will work with technology solutions providers, evaluate effective solutions and make operational recommendations to NWDC management.  Additional duties include authoring standard operating procedures, training of operations personnel and tier 2 technical support.  Individual must work well independently as well as have strong team oriented skills.


Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline, plus at least two years of directly related experience.  In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 6 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

- Experienced with Remedy ticketing system

- Security + and or Microsoft certification

- Experienced with help desk troubleshooting protocols

- Experienced resolving basic technical issues by providing scripted guidance regarding software and hardware problems

- Experience resolving more complex technical problems through a defined escalation process

- Experienced logging  and tracking inquiries using a problem management database and maintains history records and related problem documentation

- Experience in systems administration

- Experience with Windows Servers 2003/2008,Windows desktop operating systems XP and Windows 7

- Experience monitoring and implementing backup procedures

- Experience with upgrades, migrations and integration

- Strong customer focus, including the ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities

- Experience installing release upgrades

Must be a US citizen able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
