The Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE)  System Administrator is responsible for planning, acquisition, implementation, support, tuning, and performance for central server architecture components and operating systems (web servers, application servers, database servers, update servers, etc.) to support the development, testing, and production delivery of enterprise-wide, mission-critical applications and services for the NCTE.

The System Administrator will work in cooperation with Engineering and Operations divisions to assess the current architecture and evolve future enterprise computing requirements. While keeping abreast of current enterprise computing disciplines, this position will work with technology solutions providers, evaluate effective solutions and make operational recommendations to NWDC management.  Additional duties include authoring standard operating procedures, training of operations personnel and tier 2 technical support.  Individual must work well independently as well as have strong team oriented skills.

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline, and two or more years of related experience; equivalent exchange of education and experience may also be considered.

- CompTIA Security+ Certification and CompTIA Linux+ Certification are preferred. Microsoft certification is also preferred.

- Candidate must have ability to obtain certifications within six (6) months of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Experience with Remedy ticketing system
- Experience with help desk troubleshooting protocols
- Experience resolving basic technical issues by providing scripted guidance regarding software and hardware problems
- Experience resolving more complex technical problems through a defined escalation process
- Experience logging and tracking inquiries using a problem management database and maintaining history records and related problem documentation
- Experience in systems administration
- Experience with Windows Server 2003/2008, Windows desktop operating systems XP and Windows 7
- Experience monitoring and implementing backup procedures
- Experience with upgrades, migrations and integration
- Strong customer focus, including the ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities
- Experience installing release upgrades

Must hold an Active US DoD Secret clearance to begin employment.
