Responsibilities/Qualification

SUMMARY:

The Joint Staff J7 (JSJ7)  System Administration Lead is responsible for planning, acquisition, implementation, support, tuning, and performance for Information Technology client and server architecture components and operating systems (web servers, application servers, database servers, update servers, etc.) to support the development, testing, and production delivery of enterprise-wide, mission-critical applications.

DESCRIPTION:

The  System Administrator will work in cooperation with Engineering and Operations divisions to assess the current architecture and evolve future enterprise computing requirements. While keeping abreast of current enterprise computing disciplines, this position will work with technology solutions providers, evaluate effective solutions and make operational recommendations to JSJ7 management.  Additional duties include authoring standard operating procedures, training of operations personnel and tier 2 technical support.  Individual must work well independently as well as have strong team oriented skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline, plus 5-7 years of related experience.   In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years of applicable work experience.  Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

Experience building and managing virtualization technologies, enterprise container technologies such as OpenStack, Redhat OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes  desired.

Installation and sustainment of operating systems including Redhat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server 2xxx, Windows 10, Redhat Identity Manager, Redhat Directory Server and Windows Active Directory integration to include Certificate Logon (CLO) a plus. 

Must be well spoken with experience interfacing with senior management. 

Experience with Department of Defense Security Technical Implementation Guidelines Strong technical troubleshooting skills.

Ability to read and digest technical information

Ability to troubleshoot technical issues within multiple systems Ability to visualize overall view of systems and conceptualize and document creative solutions

Strong attention to detail Strong customer focus, including the ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities.

Must possess excellent team coordination, oral and written communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Motivated self-starter 

Experience in systems administration                                                                                                                           

Security+ required.

Linux+ and/or Microsoft certification highly desired.

CLEARANCE

Must be a US Citizen able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
