Job Description



Responsibilities/Qualification

Under general supervision, develops, operates and maintains moderately complex technology systems. Participates in the integration of processes and methodologies to ensure the performance of the total system.

Supports senior technical personnel and project managers within own organization in various technical activities related to system and technical product development. Receives general supervision from management as well as technical guidance and training from the more experienced technical staff. 

Performs basic engineering work in analysis, design, development, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of higher-level engineers in the development of system and technical products.  Typically employs pre-established guidelines and instructions, and limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish task objectives.

Duties often include the collection of information and data, performance of various tests, and engineering computations, measurements and analyses.  Exhibits the ability to independently perform basic data validation and troubleshooting.

Provides some technical guidance and oversight to entry level technical staff and may act as a technical lead for limited aspects of a project.

Has some independent interaction with customers and provides input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables under guidance of more senior technical personnel. 

Provides input and support to intra-organizational proposal development efforts. May have some exposure to and provide some input to inter-organizational technical and business development activities.

Complies with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties. Provides recommendations for improvements to existing quality systems and applicable company procedures and guidelines. 
 

Develops innovative acoustic design solutions for personal computer systems. This involves all acoustic related design and sustaining activities including cross-functional or OEM interaction necessary to deliver products into production.

Uses state of the art acoustic analysis tools to create, test, and validate computer systems and components. Principal duties include early involvement with product concept creations including acoustic, mechanical, and thermal development and detail design.

Develops and executes system and component level testing on prototypes throughout the development process.

Develops and implements  customer focused acoustic specifications for computer systems and components. Close working relationship with Thermal, Electrical, Mechanical, Power, and other development groups also required to meet project objectives.

Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 

Education/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree plus 2 to 4 years of professional experience in SONAR, ship's acoustics, signal processing, or ship's noise measurement systems. Degree must be in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted for comparable work experience.  Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

A SECRET clearance is required for employment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Knowledge of  engineering principles, methods, and techniques within a specific area of expertise.

Knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.

Effective organization level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
