Job Description

With more than 40 contract vehicles currently in our portfolio, we have a broad and proven relationship of service with the United States federal government, the Department of Defense (DoD), and civilian government agencies providing modeling, simulation, information technology, homeland security, program and acquisition management, research, engineering and more.

The System Security Engineer’s functions as a senior technical providing day-to-day support for Unclassified, Collateral and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) activities.  This position is in San Antonio, TX.

Performance shall include:

  • Experience supporting USCYBERCOM Cyber National Mission Force (CNMF) -- U.S. military's first joint tactical command with a dedicated mission focused on cyberspace operations: to plan, direct and synchronize cyberspace operations to deter, deny, and if necessary, defeat adversary cyber actors to defend the nation.
  • All work will support the drafting of operational requirements/vignettes to identify, acquire and/or develop and integrate (deploy/employ) solutions (material & non-material) globally to enable CNMF Hunt Forward Teams.
  • Perform oversight of the development, implementation and evaluation of information system security program policy; special emphasis placed upon integration of existing network infrastructures Support a team of System Security Engineers (SSE) and Certification and Accreditation Analysts responsible for ensuring the customers national and international security interests are protected as support equipment are designed and tested
  • Support customer community IA working groups, participate in SSE IPT reviews
  • Provides expert level consultation and technical services on all aspects of Information Security
  • Review SSE related designs and provides security compliance recommendations
  • Develop and provide IA risk management recommendations to the customer
  • Provide SSE support for Mission and Training systems design and development
  • Assist with development and maintenance of the Program Protection Plan
  • Assist with site activation activities and design reviews
  • Represent the customer in various SSE related working groups, advisory groups, and advisory council meetings
  • Build, troubleshoot, and maintain several software-based networking systems.
  • Build ESXi hosted virtual machines that support network analysis and database management applications.
  • Develop base models for virtual systems that can be modified to meet specific customer needs.
  • Monitor resource utilization and provide proactive solutions to increase and/or optimize resource utilization for virtual and physical systems.
  • Provide tier 2 systems support to technicians in remote locations.
  • Develop systems optimized for cloud deployment to support network analysis and database management.
  • Perform high-level root-cause analysis for service interruption recovery and creating preventive measures.
  • Establish and operate a system test facility and representative range.
  • Develop and maintain detailed and high-level system diagrams to support security and logistics documentation and approvals.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience (4 years)

  • 5 - 7 years related experience
  • Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Technician Level 2 within 6 months of the date of hire
  • Expert at virtualization technologies such as VMWare, Hypervisor, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Expert and system integration and optimization
  • Deep knowledge of DoD security practices and documentationStrong understanding of model-based system engineering such as UML and SysML
  • Strong understanding of database applications and management that include ELK Stack, NOSQL and Mongo

Desired Qualifications:

  • Must be familiar with security policy/manuals and the appropriate DCIDs/JAFANs and other guiding policy documents
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and effectively interact with numerous DOD, military/civilian personnel and industry partners
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Possess a high degree of originality, creativity, initiative requiring minimal supervision
  • Requires travel within the organizational geographic Area of Responsibility (AOR) (note - could be extensive, and will include both air and ground transportation)

Security Clearance:

  • Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
  • Willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience
