Position Summary:

Alion is looking for a talented Data Modeler to support activities related to enterprise-wide, mission critical and mission support data sets. The preferred candidate will have a background in supporting various types of systems and database structures and network-related missions within the Department of Defense environments, as either a developer, analyst or engineer. The ideal candidate will have worked with big data systems, complex structured and unstructured data sets, and have supported government data acquisition, analysis, and/or sharing efforts in the past. To excel in the position, the candidate shall have a strong attention to detail, be able to understand technical complexities, and have the willingness to learn and adapt to the situation. The candidate will work both independently and as part of a large team to accomplish client objectives. 

Security Clearance:

• Active Secret clearance is a mandatory requirement

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent fields.  Educational requirements may be adjusted for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.

• 3-5 years of experience as a data modeler
• Experience with the following programming languages and tools:
  • Java/JSP and JDeveloper
  • .Net, C#, ASP, MVC and Visual Studio
  • Microsoft SQL Server and stored procedures
  • ER Studio, Erwin, Sparx EA (desired)
  • Hadoop ecosystem
  • TOAD / DBeaver, Oracle LDAP
• Proficiency with acquisition and understanding of network data and the associated metadata
• Fluency with data extraction, translation, and loading including data prep and labeling to enable data analytics
• Ability to participate or lead data modeling sessions
• Ability to create and maintain logical and physical data models
• Experience with data flow, management, and storage solutions
• Experience working within cloud environments
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) IL4/5 highly desired; IL6 desired
• Familiarity with various log formats such as JSON, XML, and others
• Ability to decompose technical problems and troubleshoot system and dataflow issues
• Experience working in both Unclassified (NIPR) and Classified (SIPR) environments
• Experience working on large, multi-functional and matrixed teams and organizations
