Job Description



The Systems Engineer will play a key role within a Government customer team focusing on IT modernization and enterprise-wide transformation.  The engineer will work within a geographically and organizationally dispersed team (both Government and industry).

Main Responsibilities:

  • System Modernization – in support of the Project Management Office (PMO) and Development organizations, the candidate will:
    • Assist with selection of technical approaches and technologies to most effectively modernize legacy systems from mainframe platforms to modern platforms and languages.
    • Develop schedules and roadmaps for overall system modernization
    • Work with stakeholders to identify and document requirements
    • Advise senior technical personnel regarding the need to modify/refine requirements for ongoing design/development efforts, as necessary
  • Agile Methodologies - in support of the PMO and other aspects of the CIO, the candidate will:
    • Assist the customer with transition from Waterfall and legacy system Operations/sustainment processes into an Agile methodology for system development
    • Provide thought leadership in the areas of Agile development, to include Sprint planning, development of product backlog, development of user stories, and integration of all aspects of the Agile framework
  • Cloud Migration and Architecture:
    • Support all aspects of the CIO organization in developing cloud architectures and environments to meet various requirements.  
    • Assist and lead efforts to plan and implement migration of on premise systems and applications to cloud environments.

      Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline:
    • 6-8 years of experience in overall Systems Engineering positions
    • Strong use and understanding of Systems Engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    • Degree(s) must be in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline
    • Excellent customer service skills 
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Highly desired skills:
    • Experience with building of IT infrastructure
    • Key player in the migration of an organization's existing applications to the cloud environment, as well as the move of pre-production activities to the cloud.
    • Knowledge/awareness of data architectures and integration of data from multiple sources into a single system.
    • Strong understanding of cyber security specifications such as Risk Management Framework (RMF), DIACAP, STIGs and other government security specifications and guidelines
  • Other requirements:\
    • US Citizenship and an active Secret security clearance is required
