Responsibilities/Qualification

Alion is looking for a Technical Writer and a Speechwriter. 

This Senior Level Program Analyst will be adept at providing presentation/multimedia/speech writing support.  The candidate should possess; mastery level skills in the use and development of PowerPoint and other multimedia applications and the ability to generate new and dynamic presentations properly scoped to different audiences; skill and ability to interface with senior level officials; respond to related questions and correspondence; schedule and coordinate speaking engagements and the associated logistics related to the presentation of material.  The candidate should be able to research multiple topics, such as major technical issues and research trends, and use that research to write speeches and create presentations that focus on specific topics to engage audiences; draft speeches and presentations specifically for customer; and produce complex, high-profile speeches, presentations, and communications for customer.  Specific tasks include but are not limited to:

Research and write/create new presentations, speeches and communication pieces that address complex and high-profile issues.

Create in-depth communications on a range of subjects. 

Produce clear communications through a wide range of styles and formats, including formal speeches, PowerPoint presentations, etc.

Tailor messages to serve the needs of different audiences, including employees, clients, media, social media, students, industry participants, and community organizations.  Additionally, messaging should be in coordination with strategic communications plans for USD(R&E).

Expert in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel as well as with multimedia and social media applications.

Coordinate with the ASD(R&E) executive administrative support to ensure logistics, security clearances, communication, and coordination with contacts at speaking venues and events is accomplished in support of ASD(R&E) and Principal Deputy engagements.

Provide recommendations on acceptance, de-confliction, and priority of speaking engagements/events in close coordination with the Public Affairs specialist, executive administrative support staff, and government personnel in the OASD(R&E).

Experience:  A minimum seven (7) years’ experience.  Highly preferred experience and skills in communications, public relations, and/or journalism at the DoD and/or service component Headquarters level.  Proficient with social media and ability to develop and carry out social media communication strategies.  Ability to write and create presentations quickly and meet deadlines.  Ability to communicate to different audiences using multiple applications.  Demonstrated ability to explain complex subject matter in plain English.  Ability to work effectively and independently on multiple projects is required.  Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize is the preferred skill set.

Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, journalism, or communications is required.  Graduate degree in communications, journalism, or media, is preferred.  At the discretion of the Government, specialized experience which includes military experience may be substituted in lieu of specific educational requirements.   

Clearance Required:  Top Secret, ability to obtain and maintain SCI.  Candidates with a DCID 6/4 eligibility within the last five (5) years are highly desired.   

Travel:  Occasional CONUS travel may be required.
