Responsibilities/Qualification

Alion is looking for a Technical Writer/Speechwriter. 

The Technical Writer/Speechwriter Principal will provide focused administrative support for OUSD(R&E) to include editing and formatting correspondence, reports, briefings and other content drafted by technical and management personnel; transmit documents and data files; provide focused support for business meetings and other events; support conference planning, travel coordination, and organizational activities. Manage and track data call requests. Assist in providing illustration/graphics support requiring visual display/presentations/aids, including videos. Candidate must be able to operate independently when required with minimal guidance and supervision. Candidate must possess problem solving skills and able to conduct independent research. Properly handle sensitive information. 

Preparation of Briefings and Other Documentation:

• The candidate shall prepare formal, official program documents and correspondence based on OUSD (R&E) input and direction and maintains accountability of associated program files and records. 

• The candidate shall assist in the development and coordination of appropriate responses, reports pertaining to OUSD (R&E) projects.  The candidate will provide these reports and summaries as prescribed in official DoD or other federal directives. 

• The candidate shall actively participate in scheduled and unscheduled in-process review meetings and briefings, as required by the Government. 

• The candidate shall participate in ad-hoc meetings and be able to complete high priority assignments with quick turnaround response time.  The candidate shall maintain configuration and quality control of assignments at all times to assist with this data call. 

Liaison with Governmental and Non-Governmental Agencies: 

• The candidate shall interface with Governmental and non-Governmental agencies. Other functions include analyzing requirements for lnter-agency working groups and coordinating inputs from numerous sources, other Government agencies, academia, and non-Governmental organizations.

•  The candidate should be able to research multiple topics, such as major technical issues and research trends, and use that research to write speeches and create presentations that focus on specific topics to engage audiences; draft speeches and presentations specifically for customer; and produce complex, high-profile speeches, presentations and communications for customer.

Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years' of experience in providing Executive Level Administrative Assistant support to high-ranking Federal Government Senior Executive or DoD Flag / General Officers. Highly preferred experience and skills in providing Executive Level Administrative Assistant support to political appointees (Tier 4 SESs) is preferred. 

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. At the discretion of the Government, specialized experience including military or industry experience may be substituted in lieu of specific educational requirements. 

Clearance Required: Top Secret, ability to obtain and maintain SCI. Contractors should have had a Top Secret, with SCI eligibility adjudicated within the past seven (7) years; have been briefed into access/held the access within the past two (2) years; and have a SSBI or SSBI-PR Investigation not more than 7 years old. 

Travel: There will be CONUS and OCONUS travel. 

Estimated Number of Trips and Location: 5-7 CONUS, 1-2 OCONUS

Estimated Number of Days: approximately 5 days per trip
