Job Description


Alion is seeking a Surface HF Comms Technical Instructor for Fleet Sailors at Center for Surface Combat Systems DET WEST San Diego CA. The program requires the ability to conduct traditional classroom instruction and support maintenance and operations training.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

1. Develops, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs in support of the operation and maintenance of Navy high frequency (HF) communications equipment. 

2. Establishes course content and objectives.

3. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.

4. Maintains records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness.

5. Updates course documentation on a regular basis to ensure timeliness and relevance.

6. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

7. Participates in special projects as required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Five (5) years of experience with the HF comms system as either a maintenance technician supervisor or operator supervisor with responsibility for teaching the applicable system or function task to others in a journeyman level training environment. Of the five years, one (1) year of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment, to include curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems.
  • An active Secret Security clearance is required for employment.

Desired Experience:

  • Former Navy Electronics Technicians (ET) are encouraged to apply.
  • Surface HF Communications System Maintenance Technician with NEC V82A (Legacy NEC Code 1420) or High Frequency Radio Group (HFRG) Maintenance Technician with NEC V62B (Legacy NEC Code 9607)
  • Master Training Specialist (MTS) NEC Code 9502 is highly desired.
  • Combat Systems Training Team (CSTT) experience is desired
