Responsibilities/Qualification

Be the difference maker in shaping and improving technical solutions and capture strategies that result in continued corporate growth and innovation. As an Alion Science and Technology Solutions Developer/Architect,  you will provide company-wide expert support to delivery of technical solutions that best fulfill client needs, and helping our technical teams clearly communicate the benefits of those solutions to decision-makers in the client’s acquisition process

Key Responsibilities include:
During Solution & Capture:

Work closely with Alion Group Technical Leaders and BD/Capture Managers in developing and refining technical solution strategy throughout the Capture and Proposal lifecycle, from early Qualification through Proposal submission

Participate and provide input to Industry and Government technical forums and conferences to maintain currency, access prospective customers to understand critical needs, socialize and vet solutions, and advise on strategies to shape acquisitions that achieve desired results

Lead and support technical solution design and the development of key products including, but not limited to architectural models, process diagrams, concepts of operation, etc

Collaborate with Alion Corporate and Group technical leaders and support staff to identify and bring the best technical and business strategies and solutions to differentiate Alion from its competition

During Pre-Proposal Planning & Proposal Response:

Ensure readiness of solution and proposal support team to prepare a compelling and compliant response to the government’s solicitation

Support development of the Technical volumes and orals presentations for proposals

Coach and advise more junior solution architecture and proposal support resources

Ensure integration of technical solution with all sections and volumes of the proposal

Review proposals and provide critical feedback needed to strengthen our solution and proposals

Author Technical volume introductions, key sections and orals slides including developing compelling graphics and processes

Basic Qualifications:

Systems engineering degree with 20 years successfully architecting technical solutions and providing technical leadership on complex capture pursuits and proposals

Experience with technical leadership and project management

Must have excellent communications skills, both verbally and written, and be the consummate listener and advisor that can translate technical requirements to a compelling technical writing and proposals

Ability to successfully lead solution development and technical proposal volumes for large scale ($100M+), highly strategic, and complex deals

Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, growth-focused environment

Ability to be an integral and supportive member of capture and proposal teams over long stretches of time (during capture) and in challenging situations (during proposal development)

Ability to write exceptionally well and to create compliant and compelling narrative that best presents Alion’s solutions and approaches within the government’s requirements and evaluation criteria, and conceptualize and communicate or develop rich graphic visuals

Other Requirements

Secret security clearance required; TS desirable

Applicants will be asked to provide samples of previous work and/or solutioning and writing skills and abilities

Position is located in Fair Lakes, VA and may involve travel to other company locations

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in related discipline plus 20 years experience.  Master’s degree preferred
In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 20 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Extensive technical knowledge relevant to Alion’s lines of business required

Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

Ability to do extensive domestic and international travel

Experience in international marketing preferred

Extensive experience in sales contract negotiations

A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment
