Job Description

Alion Science and Technology is seeking a Test Engineer (Autobody and Paint) to work OCONUS (Outside Continental United States).  The qualified candidate will be required to spray polyurea; sand, grind, and perform body work on polyurea applied to vehicle panels; and apply and sand primer, body filler, and single stage paint.  Knowledge of generators, air compressors, polyurea spray equipment, and safety regulations is beneficial.  The candidate will need to perform as a member of a team to process vehicles in the most efficient manner possible. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work primarily OCONUS applying, sanding, and grinding polyurea, paint, and body filler applied to vehicles
  • Work with others and advise on best technique to accomplish tasks
  • Maintain vehicle throughput
  • Maintain product quality

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years automotive body shop experience
  • Prior experience sanding polyurea, applying top coats, and doing body work on automobiles
  • Previous experience managing a body shop
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in Kabul, Afghanistan

Under immediate supervision, assists in designing and developing engineering standards and tests to evaluate the function of products and systems. Supports procedures for product testing, reviews and evaluates test results.

Collects information and data appropriate to a particular area of technical effort.

Applies the data to help solve the problem by performing engineering computations, measurements and analyses.

Prepares engineering sketches, drawings and tables for inclusion in technical reports.

Prepares written inputs to major reports documenting an engineering analysis.

Prepares status reports, letters, short technical memoranda, and contact reports.

Acts as liaison with other departments, divisions, and organizations.

Participates in scheduled project review sessions and in informal interactions with the project sponsor.

Regularly participates in the activities of professional societies.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in test engineering.

A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.
