The Alion Terrain Developer serves as a member of the elite Joint Staff J7 Terrain Services Team. This team is designated for the acquisition transformation and management of Geospatial data in support of the Terrain Generation Service (TGS). Whom provides Joint Training exercises with high fidelity and up-to-date geospatial data used in high-fidelity virtual training environments..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform data transformation functions.
• Convert existing geospatial data and simulation databases to data consistent with the Common Database (CDB) specification.
• Prepare geographic data for use in constructive and virtual terrain databases.
• Develop metadata and versioning of geospatial data.

Experience

• 3-5 years professional experience in GIS or simulations industry.

Skills

• Experience with one or more commercial GIS software packages, including ArcGIS 10.x, ERDAS Imagine, or Global Mapper.
• Working knowledge of the CDB specification is highly desirable.
• Experience with Presagis products such as Terra Vista.
• Experience with modeling and simulation technologies such as JCATS, JTLS, MTWS, MUSE, VBS3, JSAF, and OneSAF is preferred.
• Knowledge of Geoserver and the Web Map Service (WMS) standards is preferred.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Products such as Powerpoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook

Education

• BA/BS in Geography, GIS, OR technical certification in similar discipline. 

Clearance

• Position requires an active Secret Clearance.
