Opportunity/Key Responsibilities

Alion Science and Technology Corporation is searching for a Live, Virtual, Constructive (LVC) Test and Evaluation (T&E) Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Advanced Modeling and Simulation Technology Operation (AMSTO). Primary responsibilities will include the following:

  • In coordination with and under tasking from Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Port Hueneme Division (PHD), provide subject matter expertise in the areas of LVC capabilities applied to T&E requirements
  • Provide a baseline capability assessment of stand-alone and integrated live, virtual, and constructive capabilities being used for T&E requirements. Collaborate with related efforts in the training community with an assessment of applicability to T&E requirements.  Maintain LVC T&E capability baseline as required.
  • Monitor and propose possible future investment opportunities to expand and integrate Surface Combatant T&E capabilities. Input will be in the form of briefings, white papers, and participation in meetings and conferences at the tasking of NSWC PHD.
  • Prepare and maintain LVC for T&E Strategy and Roadmap document given feedback from Government representative. Provide assessment of prioritization of investments.
  • Act as SME to test planning and execution personnel to integrate new LVC capabilities and evaluate effectiveness. Provide feedback into follow-on testing and PHD leadership.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or Systems Engineering plus ten years of directly-related experience. These requirements may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.

Military experience with a focus on Surface Combatant T&E.

Fleet-wide program exposure to operational commands and acquisition program offices, primarily PEO IWS with community reputation.

Ability to obtain a security clearance is required. Active Secret Clearance highly preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Must have technical competency with operational and future combat and weapon systems on surface combatants; Interoperability within and across combat and weapon systems; T&E processes, planning, and execution including ship riding, data collection, and reporting; T&E supporting capabilities including instrumentation, communication systems, data requirements and analysis tools; foreign threats and capabilities of representative targets and constructive simulations; training and T&E continuum including but not limited to developmental tests, operational tests, combat system ship qualification trials, composite training unit exercises, joint exercises, and fleet synthetic training; leadership in a matrix organization environment where software developers, technical analysts and other team members are provided as resources from a different part of the organization; communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
