Job Description



Responsibilities/Qualification

Candidate will support testing of US Navy ships under construction.  Under general supervision, reviews and develops test procedures of ship systems and components in accordance with specifications, drawings, and other techincal guidance.  Witness test completion to ensure guidelines met and system performance achieved noting any failures or degradations.  .

Document deficiencies on trial cards.  Track completion of defects and close trials cards as conditions warrant.

Acts as liaison with shipbuilder, AITs, and vendors installing and testing components and systems.

Devises and applies testing procedures for components, intra-system and inter-system tests.

Participates in the development, maintenance and refinement of internal quality control and reliability programs.

Plans, develops, coordinates, and implements moderately complex engineering projects. Ensures the technical accuracy of the results obtained.

Assists in troubleshooting systems as required

Evaluates progress and results of project test plan and makes recommendations .to improve accomplishment

Identifies opportunities for new program initiatives and follow-on tasking for current projects.

Carries out assignments requiring the improvement of current techniques and procedures.

Acts as liaison with other departments, divisions, and organizations.

Regularly participates in the activities of professional societies.

Develops and maintains contacts with customers including those at levels above the project monitor.

Prepares and assists others in the development of status reports, letters, technical memoranda, contact reports, technical analyses or other outputs needed.

Prepares and provides briefings to staff and customers and participates in technical discussions at project review sessions.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in test engineering.

A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.
