Responsibilities/Qualification

 

Individual will work closely with military, government personnel, shipbuilders and other contractors to oversee the completion and testing of combat systems on US Navy destroyers.  Successful candidate will be able to under direct supervision develop and conduct component and system level tests of shipboard systems in an industrial environment while meeting  moderately complex engineering standards to evaluate the function of assgned components and systems. Develops and implements procedures for product testing, reviews and evaluates test results, and recommends production or design changes to ensure quality and performance standards.

Defines, documents, and performs moderately complex developmental tests for new and/or modified ship systems and components.

Acts as liaison with outside activities in establishing or modifying specifications for ship systems and components.

Devises and applies testing procedures for parts or subassemblies received from outside vendors.

Participates in the development, maintenance and refinement of internal quality control and reliability programs.

Plans, develops, coordinates, and implements moderately complex engineering projects. Ensures the technical accuracy of the results obtained.

Under supervision performs moderately complex analysis and trouble-shooting.

Evaluates progress and results of project and recommends new methods to improve project design, procedures and performance.

Identifies opportunities for new program initiatives and follow-on tasking for current projects.

Carries out assignments requiring the improvement of current techniques and procedures.

Acts as liaison with other departments, divisions, and organizations.

Develops and maintains contacts with customers including those at levels above the project monitor.

Prepares and assists others in the development of status reports, letters, technical memoranda, contact reports, technical analyses or other outputs needed.

Prepares and provides briefings to staff and customers and participates in technical discussions at project review sessions.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability work in industrial environment observing safety requirements, move up and down ladders, standing and bending for periods while inspecting/conducting tests of equipment.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in test engineering.

A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.

Bachelor's Degree 0 to 2.  Specific and relevant experience testing shipboard systems will be considered in lieu of degree.
