Responsibilities/Qualification

Alion Science and Technology Corporation is seeking a n Unmanned Autonomous Systems (UAS) Test Support and Development Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) support to a major DoD Agency located in Albuquerque, NM at Kirtland AFB for operational test events. Some travel (10%) to the White Sands Missile Range, NM and the Nevada National Security Site, NV as well as to the National Capital Region (Northern Virginia) will be required.
Roles:
• Independently develop, manage, and implement instrumentation plans and methodologies to meet measurement objectives to support customer testing.
• Develop plans, methodologies and instrumentation system to test UAS, UGS, and autonomous systems used in CWMD testing.
• Develop plans, methodologies and instrumentation system to detect and defeat unmanned and autonomous systems, as well as verifying offensive capabilities.
• Conduct market research and stay abreast of latest unmanned and autonomous systems, as well as sensors, detectors, and samplers that can be integrated into various UAS platforms.
• Integrate hardware and software across many different UAS, UGS, Autonomous, and data acquisition systems and platforms to create integrated fixed and mobile instrumentation capabilities.
• Conduct flight experiments to address research challenges.
Required Qualifications:
• Hands on experience piloting or testing unmanned autonomous systems.
• Ability to integrate instrumentation on to all types of unmanned systems.
• Skills in communications systems, radar systems, guidance/navigation/control, UAV control and mission management software, and cyber software.
• Knowledge of Federal UAS regulations.
• Education: Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,  Mechatronics,  Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Years’ Experience: 4-6 years’ in working directly with unmanned and autonomous (primarily air/ground) in a test and evaluation (T&E) environment.
• Security Clearance: Minimum active Secret with ability to obtain TS and SCI.
• US Citizenship.
• MS Office proficiency and ability to work in an individual and team environment.

Additional Desired Qualifications:
• Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and/or Nuclear domain knowledge.
• Improved Explosive Devices associated with unmanned systems.

•         Unmanned Systems.


•         Test knowledge of Improved Explosive Devices.


•         Advanced degree (Ms or PhD).


•         Current DoD TS/SCI.
