Position Summary

The Graphic Design Internship is a temporary position within Alion which prepares a college student for entry into the workforce by providing emphasis on training and experience related to a student's educational discipline which is applicable to the business needs of the company. The position is for college students who are rising sophomores or juniors in their academic program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the UI/UX lead in designing software interface and functionality
  • Assist the UI/UX lead in design audits of the applications
  • Help document styles into an online style guide
  • Retouch and manipulate images as needed
  • Receive constructive feedback and make necessary changes
  • Maintain any printed and digital materials
  • Use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop graphic design software
  • Show knowledge of online and print media
  • May support the team in assigned project-based work and/or manage minor administrative projects.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience

Must currently be enrolled as a student in an accredited public or private college or university. Preference for Graphic Arts major. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  • Basic knowledge of layouts, typography, line composition, color, and other graphic design fundamentals
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat
  • Strong creative and analytical skill
  • Compelling portfolio of graphic design
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Good writing, communication and listening skills                                                                                         
  • Good critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Must be diligent, hardworking and a fast learner
  • Desires to gain professional experience and is eager to learn
