Responsibilities/Qualification

 

Position Summary

Alion Science and Technology Corporation is seeking an Unmanned Autonomous Systems (UAS) Pilot to provide Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) support to a major DoD Agency located in Albuquerque, NM at Kirtland AFB for operational test events. Travel (~30%) to the White Sands Missile Range, NM, the Nevada National Security Site, NV,  and San Antionio, TX may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) pilot operations on multi-rotor and fixed wing sUASs.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,  Mechatronics,  Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years’ experience  piloting unmanned and autonomous (primarily air/ground) systems with payloads in a test and evaluation (T&E) environment.
  • A High School degree and at least 7 years’ related experience is acceptable as an alternative.
  • Expertise with flight operations, mission planning, and waypoint navigation, and mapping.
  • Knowledge of sUAS flight safety, crew resource management, and risk management regarding sUAS flight operations.
  • Hands on experience piloting and testing unmanned autonomous systems.
  • Skills in communications systems, radar systems, guidance/navigation/control, UAV control and mission management software, and cyber software.
  • Knowledge of Federal UAS regulations.
  • US Citizenship is required: Active/current Secret (S) with ability to obtain TS/SCI..
  • Effective organization level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • MS Office proficiency and ability to work in an individual and team environment.
  • Experience in piloting sUAS in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and/or High Explosives test events desired.
  • Required Training (must already be completed):

FAA Part 107 certification.

Current FAA Class III flight physical.

  • Minimum of 20 hours logged flight operation experience in Class 1 and Class 2 sUAS platforms.
