Responsibilities/Qualification

Position Summary

  • Responsible for managing engineering design data that specifies and details complex engineering requirements. Implements configuration practices in accordance with government and industry standards in response to contractual requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops and establishes complex configuration and data management documentation based on program requirements.
  • Participates in design reviews, audits, schedules, budgets and maintains relevant documentation.
  • Identifies complex requirements and coordinates the development, implementation and maintenance of configuration management systems.
  • Collects and researches data; utilizing experience to complement data in drawing valid conclusions.
  • Provides analysis of proposed design changes to determine the effect on the overall system.
  • Acts as liaison between functional groups.
  • Processes a variety of configuration change documents and records information to manage configuration items effectively, including the status of proposed, implemented and approved changes.
  • Support the concept, development, acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and life cycle sustainment of submarine Electronics Systems, Weapon Systems, and associated subsystems and programs.
  • Update and maintain the Configuration Identification and Change Status in accordance with  Configuration Management Plans
  • Prepare, distribute, and track  Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
  • Will be part of a team of contractors providing torpedo and UUV program technical support at Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport, RI.
  • Recommends methods of improvement.
  • Participates in special studies of a complex nature.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of complex databases.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in related discipline and 5 to 7 years of directly related experience. Education and work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.
  • Knowledge of torpedo and UUV systems desired.
  • Familiarity with Demilitarization (DEMIL) processes of DoDM 4160.28 and related areas including Trade Security Controls (TSC) desired.
