Wide Area Network Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Senior IT professional with professional and technical experience in engineering, administration, project management, design, escalation support, implementation, integration, configuration and troubleshooting in larger enterprise environments preferably in Dod and/or IC within with proficiency in routing, routing protocols, switching, security, firewall management, and data center technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• WAN routing protocols, Border Gateway Protocols
• Knowledge of multicast routing protocols including Protocol Independent Multicast and Multicast Source Discovery Protocol
• Experience with InfinBand fabrics desirable
• Experience Systems Administrator deploying, maintaining and operating Unix/Linux systems, including HPC (high performance computing) clusters, a distributed DNS service, and internal support systems
• Troubleshooting, resolving issues on systems, and Tier 1 up to Tier 2 level support
• Bachelor’s degree in computer related field from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
• Experience: 8+ in a technical background with an emphasis in Unix/Linux system admin
   

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•     Hands-on system administration experience
•     Linux distributions in a distributed computing environment
•     Solid understanding of IP network fundamentals
•     Awareness of network file systems such as NFS
•     Scripting languages such as Perl, Python and Bash for system automation tasks
•     Securing systems using SSH, VPN, PKI, Kerberos and similar technologies
•     Experience installing and troubleshooting enterprise server platforms
•     Familiarity with configuration of the HPC software stack

•     A familiarity with parallel file systems
•     Proficient with virtualization and container solutions
•     An understanding of network management tools
•     Tuning Linux to achieve optimal use of system and network resources

Minimum Certifications: Security +

Required: U.S. Citizenship with a current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.  Will need a poly upon hiring
